After a seven-year hiatus forced by the global pandemic, the long-awaited and highly anticipated 2023 World Bowls Championships finally kicked off with a warm welcome by City of Gold Coast Councillor Bob La Castra, Bowls Australia President Matt Burgess, World Bowls President Darryl Clout together with a very special and traditional Aboriginal Performance from representatives of the Jellurgal Aboriginal Culture Centre. 

 

The event is supported by Tourism and Events Queensland and Major Events Gold Coast and this global pinnacle international competition has more countries, players, host clubs and gold medal opportunities than ever before together with the first year of Para participation making the Championships a fully inclusive one.

 

Twelve days of competition commences today (August 29) through to September 10 with more than 1244 matches, over 540 players and coaches to take to the greens on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
