Elections for the positions as Regional Director of the sport’s five geographical constituencies concluded last week with three new candidates being elevated to the World Bowls board.
Of the new faces on the board, legendary South African international and former Commonwealth Games gold medallist Gerry Baker replaces long-serving director and past world president John McArdle as Regional Director for the Africa Region.
Two recent national presidents, Bowls Australia’s Darryl Clout and Ian Howard from Bowls Canada, are also new additions to the line-up. Clout is the new Regional Director for the Oceania Region, replacing fellow Aussie Wayne Moffatt; while Howard replaces hard-working USA player/administrator Scott Roberts as Regional Director for the Americas (including the Caribbean) Region.
Guernsey’s Garry Collins was re-elected to the Regional Director for the Europe Region post; while Claudius Lam from Hong Kong China remains as Regional Director for the Asia Region.
As has been previously acknowledged world president John Bell from England was returned unopposed, while Hazel Wilson from Wales continues as an Appointed Director on the board.
The new Board of Directors commence their duties on 1 June 2020.
