The World Bowls Series ranking list has been updated following the USA National Championships, BPL22 at Pine Rivers, Australia, and the Scottish International Open at West Lothian IBC, Scotland.
There’s change at the top of the female list with New Zealand’s Selina Goddard taking the number one spot following a successful season, which included winning the Australian Open pairs.
Scotland’s Jason Banks continues his tenure at top of the men’s list as the countdown to the first-ever World Bowls Series grand finals (December 9-13) gathers pace.
Five countries feature in the top 10 list of the women’s list. As well as New Zealand, who have two players with Briar Atkinson in 10th spot, there’s Australia – Olivia Cartwright (2), Kelsey Cottrell (5), Dawn Hayman (6), Chloe Stewart (7), Cassandra Millerick (9), Malaysia – Nurul Alyabi Binto Jamil (3), England – Emily Kernick (4) and Canada – Kelly McKerihen (8) with 150 points separating the top 10 players, while in the men’s list Scotland’s Stewart Anderson’s win in the Scottish International Open sees him take fourth place, with fellow Scot Iain McLean, bronze medallist in the World Bowls champion of champions, sits in fifth. Wales’ Ross Owen is sixth and the only other country represented in the rankings dominated by Australia with five players – Jack McShane (2), Corey Wedlock (3), Lee Schraner (7), Aron Sherriff (8) and Cohen Litfin (10).
The first ever World Bowls Series finals will be staged at cluBarham, New South Wales, Australia, who hosted the World Bowls champion of champions in September.
The event – a showcase of bowls featuring a global blockbuster line-up of players who have excelled in WBS ranked events during the last 12 months– will be staged from December 9-13.
The players eligible to attend are those ranked in these latest Top 10 lists. A further two female and male players will be given special invitations based on their ranking and their performances following the conclusion of the World Cupin November 2025.
ABOUT THE WBS RANKINGS The World Bowls Series, launched in 2024, is the official year-long calendar of sanctioned events connecting to the official world rankings. It is a joint venture between World Bowls and Tier 5 Ventures. The sanctioned events occur across the globe and will feature a mixture of existing and new events.
The 2025 calendar sees 30 sanctioned events. Each WBS event will belong to a different tier having different ranking points based on the size, location, and stature it presents for the sport.
The purpose of WBS is to build the profile and brand of bowls, showcase the best players in the game and increase their earnings potential, accelerate the legitimacy of the sport on the global stage and launch world rankings that will help create clarity and interest in the sport of bowls.
There have so far been four men’s No 1 ranked players – Aron Sherriff (Australia), Izzat Shameer Dzukelple (Malaysia), Stewart Anderson and Jason Banks for Scotland, while having enjoyed kudos as women’s No 1’s are Kelsey Cottrell (Australia), Kelly McKerihen (Canada), Nor Farah Ain Abdullah (Malaysia), Emily Kernick (England), Dawn Hayman (Australia) and now Selina Goddard (New Zealand).
