With the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games fast approaching, Bowls and Para Bowls athletes are preparing to compete for one of the most distinctive medals in Games history.

The Glasgow 2026 prize medal features a world-first inclusive design, with braille and tactile elements included on a Commonwealth Games medal for the first time.

Designed by award-winning artist, designer and maker Militsa Milenkova, the medal takes the form of a Reuleaux triangle, a distinctive geometric shape inspired by Glasgow’s coat of arms, landmarks and industrial heritage.

The design draws on elements of the Finnieston Crane, tartan and the city’s rich cultural identity, with three surface levels representing the podiums athletes will step onto during the Games.

Bowls and Para Bowls will be part of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games programme, with athletes from across the Commonwealth set to compete on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

The Bowls programme will feature Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Pairs and Women’s Pairs, while Para Bowls will include Men’s Pairs B6-B8, Women’s Pairs B6-B8 and Mixed Pairs B2-B3.

For the athletes, the medal is more than a symbol of success. It represents years of preparation, national pride and the opportunity to stand on a Commonwealth Games podium.

As the countdown to Glasgow continues, the prize medal offers a powerful reminder of what is at stake when the world’s best Bowls and Para Bowls athletes take to the green.
