Uganda Bowls has taken an important step in the growth of the sport across East Africa with a recent visit to the Kenya Bowling Federation in Nairobi.

Led by the Uganda Bowls President, the delegation met with their Kenyan counterparts including the President, Treasurer, and Vice President Mr Pio. The visit focused on capacity building and sharing knowledge on how to develop the game in the region.

The group also enjoyed time on the greens at the historic Nairobi Club, before holding discussions on how to best grow bowls in East Africa. Both nations agreed that schools and universities present the greatest opportunity for sustainable development of the sport.

In Uganda, the plan is to introduce bowls into secondary schools and universities, creating playing spaces that don’t need to be perfect greens, but allow the sport to take root and grow over time.

Uganda Bowls has requested support and guidance from World Bowls in securing equipment and resources to help launch these school and youth programmes.

This collaboration marks an exciting step forward for bowls in East Africa, building momentum for the sport’s future across the region.
