Türkiye is continuing to build strong momentum in its bowls development programme, with growing participation and emerging talent highlighting the sport’s progress.

A total of 154 players recently competed in the Turkish Bowls Championships, played on portable carpets marking a significant increase on last year and doubling the number of participants from 2025.

The championships were followed by a national team selection camp, where 38 players were selected to take part in a two day programme aimed at identifying and developing future representatives.

Bowls Türkiye President Ozkan Akar reflected positively on the experience, which saw players spend nine consecutive days on the greens across both events.

“I am very happy with the performance of the players and the overall standard of play,” Akar said.

“I lost my first elimination match to a 16 year old, which shows how encouraging it is to see young players coming through, enjoying the sport and already achieving success.”

The continued growth of bowls in Türkiye reflects the impact of ongoing development efforts, with increasing participation and a strong pipeline of emerging players.
