Ryan Bester was a slim and trendy long-haired teenager when he arrived in Manchester in 2002 as a Canadian representative to take part in the Commonwealth Games, and, although he has played most of his bowls since then in Australia, he has always remained a proud and committed Canuck! Tipped to win a major singles title on the world stage, he had to be patient.
In fact, he collected six World Bowls and Commonwealth Games singles medals before striking gold at World Bowls on the Gold Coast in 2023. Known for his fearsome and devastatingly accurate firing shot, he is also a master of the draw. Ryan is a club professional coordinator in Australia and has led Canada to become one of the top bowling nations.
