Richard Corsie is considered to be among the best bowls players of all time – and certainly one of the most naturally gifted.
Corsie won the World Indoor Bowls Championships singles title three times during his career. At the age of 19, he competed at the 1986 Commonwealth Games where he won a bronze medal in the singles becoming the youngest Commonwealth Games medallist in bowls.
Richard won the pairs title at the 1992 World Bowls Championship with Alex Marshall MBE and two years later won a Commonwealth Games gold medal in the singles in 1994 beating his long-time nemesis and friend Tony Allcock OBE. He was appointed MBE in 1999 and was inducted into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
