Rebecca Van Asch is one of Australia’s most decorated lawn bowlers hailing from the Invermay Bowls and Community Club in Tasmania and played over 200 capped games for Australia before her retirement.
At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Van Asch joined teammates Carla Krizanic and Natasha Van Eldik as the only Australian lawn bowlers to ever win multiple Commonwealth Games gold medals after claiming the triples and fours titles. These medals accompany Van Asch’s three world titles. She claimed her first world title in 2012 when she paired with Kelsey Cottrell to take out the women’s pairs gold. Four years later, in 2016, she again teamed up with Cottrell along with Krizanic and Van Eldik to claim the world fours gold and the triples gold also with Krizanic and Van Eldik. These women hold a unique place in the record books securing the double/double of both World and Commonwealth Titles in the triples and fours.
Van Asch is Tasmania’s only World and Commonwealth Games lawn bowls medal winner. Bec as she is universally known is now a member of the Bowls Australia High Performance coaching team and was formerly the CEO of Bowls Tasmania.
