Margaret Letham is an outstanding all-round bowler, who is equally comfortable at singles and team formats, and is recognised as one of Scotland’s best-ever skips, indoors and outdoors.

Having started playing when she was 15, she has enjoyed a long career during which she has won the Scottish, British and Atlantic singles titles as well as the Hong Kong International Classic title. But she is probably best known for the partnership she established with the late, great Joyce Lindores, with whom she struck gold in the pairs at World, Commonwealth and Atlantic levels over a productive three-year spell from 1998 to 2000.

Record:

  • Commonwealth Games: ’98 (pairs gold)
  • World Bowls Championships: ’2000 (pairs gold), ’04 (singles bronze), ’12 (pairs bronze), ’12 (fours gold)
  • Atlantic golds: ’99 (pairs gold), ’07 (pairs gold), ’09 (pairs gold), ’11 (pairs gold)
  • World Bowls Indoor Championship: ’05, ’06
