Now residing in Australia, where she has already become a popular and influential contributor to the bowls scene on and off the green, Ellen Falkner first made her mark in the English county of Cambridgeshire, where her talent was recognised at an early stage.
Drafted into the England junior team in 1997, she made her senior international debut in 2002 and was promptly selected to play lead in the England four at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester the same year, and she justified her selection as the host country quartet claimed the gold medal.
That was just the start: she added pairs gold in 2010 and triples gold in 2014, while she has also struck gold the fours at World Bowls (2004) and has won three titles at the Atlantic championships. In 2007, she teamed up with her mother Sue Alexander and grandmother Dot Bowers to win the English women’s triples title, and the unprecedented three-generation trio went on to win the British title the following year.
