World Bowls congratulates former president Darryl Clout on being awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

President of World Bowls from 2021-2024, he currently sits on the board of directors  and continues to contribute to the global development of the sport.

Darryl has been recognised in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours for his service to international sports administration, and to the community.

“On behalf of World Bowls Board, staff, volunteers, and all Member Federations, we extend our warmest congratulations to Darryl Clout on being awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM),” said CEO Neil Dalrymple.

“This honour is a richly deserved recognition of his outstanding and sustained contribution to sports administration across four decades.

“Darryl has been an exceptional leader and a passionate advocate for the development of bowls, both in Australia and globally through his presidency and as a board director of World Bowls. His vision, integrity and commitment have helped strengthen our sport and position it for continued growth.

“We are immensely proud of Darryl’s achievements and grateful for the lasting impact he has made and continues to make on our international bowls community.”

Darryl’s long involvement at both professional and volunteer levels with sport and sporting administration former includes having held the position of head of NSW Sport and Recreation and a former NSW Institute of Sport Director. He formerly held roles as a board member and president of Softball Australia, as well as vice-president of the International Softball Federation. He was appointed to the Bowls Australia Board in 2012 and was elected president in 2017.

Darryl has previously been a board member of Commonwealth Games Australia and was chair of the Heritage and Awards Committee.
