The 2026 World Bowls Indoor Championship has delivered record digital growth, highlighting the increasing global interest in bowls and the sport’s growing ability to connect with audiences far beyond its traditional fanbase.
Held at Ocean Grove Bowling Club in Victoria, Australia, the Championship featured 33 nations competing across the men’s singles, women’s singles and mixed pairs disciplines, while also attracting significant international attention online through World Bowls digital platforms.
Across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and the World Bowls website, the Championship achieved the strongest digital results recorded for the event to date, with major increases in audience reach, engagement, watch time and audience growth across all platforms.

One of the strongest indicators of the Championship’s expanding reach was the level of non-follower discovery achieved throughout the event. On Facebook alone, 73.7% of views came from non-followers, demonstrating the ability of the event and its content to reach audiences well beyond the existing bowls community.
The event also highlighted the growing appetite for bowls content online. Livestream coverage, daily event updates, results, player stories and short-form content all contributed to increased engagement throughout the Championship, helping attract new audiences while keeping existing fans connected to the action.
The World Bowls website recorded strong growth throughout the event, with increased traffic to livestreams, results, event information and daily wrap coverage helping strengthen audience retention and engagement across the week.
A new newsletter and photo gallery initiative introduced during the Championship generated 333 new subscribers and contributed to a 50% increase in the World Bowls subscriber database, creating a stronger direct connection with audiences beyond the event itself.
The Championship audience reflected the global nature of the sport, with strong engagement recorded across the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Malaysia, Hong Kong and North America.
World Bowls CEO Neil Dalrymple said:
“The rise in digital engagement around bowls reflects a clear shift in how fans want to experience the game. There is a genuine and growing appetite for bowls online, and it’s an opportunity we’re actively embracing.
Initiatives like Bowls for Brisbane highlight how the sport can be presented as dynamic, accessible and highly watchable to new and existing audiences alike.”
The growth achieved throughout the 2026 Championship reinforces the increasing opportunity for bowls to engage broader sporting audiences worldwide through modern digital coverage, livestreaming and accessible event content.
World Bowls would like to thank all athletes, member nations, volunteers, officials, partners, broadcasters and fans who contributed to making the 2026 World Bowls Indoor Championship a success both on and off the green.
