SUPERSTARS STRIVE FOR FIVE

AUSTRALIA’S Jeremy Henry and Jo Edwards from New Zealand have powered their way into tomorrow’s World Cup indoor singles finals in Australia at the Warilla Bowls & Recreation Club in Shellharbour south of Sydney.

Both have previously won this prestigious title on four occasions and played brilliantly to come through eight days of intense qualifying rounds. To achieve an unprecedented five World Cup victories Edwards will face Guernsey’s perky Lucy Beere, who has been a revelation having not played competitive indoor bowls for seven years, at 12.45pm , while Henry will face the winner of the morning’s men’s second semi final between Malaysia’s Soufi Rusli and New Zealand’s Ali Forsyth at 3.00pm.

Men:

Semi final (1): Jeremy Henry (AUS) bt Ronnie Duncan (SCO) 7-5 7-7

Women:

Semi finals: Lucy Beere (GUE) bt Natasha Scott (AUS) 8-7 9-5, Jo Edwards (NZL) bt Nor Hashimah Ismail (MAS) 10-2 9-5.
